Comic Book Pick of the Day: Simpsons Classics #28

scanned cover of Simpsons Classics #28

I think it’d be easy to smugly say that Simpsons comics are not as funny as the show–and that’d be true–but it’s important to note that the operative word there is as.  Sure, it’s not as funny as the television show, but not much is.  It’s still an amusing comic, and I did laugh out loud several times while reading through this one.

This is one of the best deals you’ll find in comics.  The issue cost $3.99 and contained 64 pages of comics–only a handful of which were advertisements.  The nice thing was, the ads were only for other Bongo comics.  So basically, you get three comics worth of material for the price of one Marvel issue.  If that’s not enough, this one also contains 2 two-page pullout posters.

Some of the jokes and plotlines are recycled from the show, but it was still a fun read, and should help hold fans over until the next season.  By the way, I’m Pro-Nedna.

I'm all for Ned Flanders and Mrs. Krabapel becoming a couple
